Q: What is ephedra extract?
I am looking for supplements similar to hydroxycut that I used to take in early 2000s. Now I see that there some kind of ephedra ban, but US manufacturers still produce ephedra pills. The only difference is that they call it ephedra extract. Is it still the same ephedra as it used to be in 2000s. Is it still as effective in weight loss? Is it legal? I am so confused.

A: Jill don't listen to lies about ephedra. EPHEDRA IS ILLEGAL IN THE USA!!!!. FDA banned ephedrine alkaloids from being sold on the US land for the reason that it is harmful for your health. There were several cases of heart attack. Pills like ECA Xtreme, Stimerex ES, Lipodrene produced by Hi Tech Pharmaceuticals are the best legal ephedra weight loss alternative. That's why it's called "ephedra extract". What manufacturers of weight loss pills do today is they take ephedra plant and remove 2 out of 7 alkaloids. Leaving 5 that are perfectly legal in the USA. That's why they call it ephedra extract.

Q: Ephedra-only diet pills?
Despite its ubiquitous legal status, ephedra-containing dietary supplements are still widely available via internet vendors. However, of the varieties on www.thatswholesale.com (or other websites), which of the supplements contains ONLY ephedra? I don't want any caffeine, white willow bark, etc. -- just the ephedra. (NOTE: Please do not respond with a lecture on personal health!)

A: Why take ephedra? It works only for a few hours and your body gets use it within a few days.Try Meridia. One pill works all day, lots of energy and no hunger http://www.ioffer.com/i/35478941

Q: Ever since the FDA banned ephedra, my workouts have been in a rut. Is anybody having this problem?
I used to take an energy booster containing ephedra before workouts, and since ehphedra has been eliminated in all workouts supplement, I'm not having that boost I use to have. I agree with you Jenny G. I think people misused it and that's why the FDA banned it. Ephedra is 100% a herbal supplement.

A: You're in luck. As of April 14th of this year, the FDA lifted the ban on Ephedra, so it's now legal to buy in the US! It was abused by a few people, but in reality, there were more problems from people taking Tylenol than Ephedra. There were about 125 deaths over ten years from Ephedra, and 650 EVERY YEAR from Tylenol - and Tylenol never got banned. Anyway, if you're looking for a good supplement to enhance your exercise and diet plan, you might want to check out Herbalean. It's made by the creators of MetaboLife 356 and it does containg 10mg of Ma Huang Ephedra per dose. It also contains Hoodia and a blend of 77 trace minerals and herbs. I've been taking it for a couple months now and it's been doing very well for me. With the Ephedra, I have energy through the whole day and with the Hoodia, I have no snack or sweet cravings, and I'm eating a lot less. Hope that helps!

Q: green tea supplements, with out caffine is this bad for you?
i was just wondering, because they say that it is natural and there is no ephedra in it. i want to make sure that it would be safe to take. see after i went off birth control my metabolisim slowed a bit so i wanted something harmless to help me along. not for immediate results but so i can feel pretty again. i eat right and exersise 1hr a day.

A: It depends on the substance of the supplements!

Q: Legality of ephedra in California?
Hi, I was wondering if Ephedra powder is legal in California (not in a supplement, just powdered ephedra). I ordered 8 oz of powdered ephedra on the internet from Oregon. Is this legal to possess in california? Especially if taken as a tea. I'm in the military and I'm wondering that if I pop on a drug test (cross sensitivity to meth) , I can say "I'm drinking ephedra tea" without them going "ILLEGAL UR DONE". Thanks.

A: The sale of ephedra is illegal in the United States. "As of June 2007, the sale of ephedra-containing dietary supplements remains illegal in the United States due to their health risks."

Q: Question about ephedra?
I just bought an ephedra based weight loss supplement and was wondering how much I should take? It says to take one pill (25mg) three times a day which seems excessive for just starting out. I have researched and read extensive reviews and opinions on the product and know the dangers but also understand the benefits of taking it without abusing it. Would taking 25mg a day be enough to stimulate weight loss? I don't want to take anymore than that as don't want to experience any of the serious side effects (I've read that people who suffered serious side effects took wayyy more than the recommended dosage)

A: Ephreda damages your heart..it made mine RACE

Q: Has the FDA ever taken to court any fraudulent dietary supplement manufacturers?
Hello, I was wondering about the FDA and there responsibilities in regards to dietary supplements and those who break the laws regarding dietary supplements. After the whole ephedra fiasco, have certain manufacturers been sued because of health/safety issues, have people ever went to jail b/c of dangerous products. Can the FDA sue people b/c of dangerous products? After the few deaths from ephedra, was anyone sued/convicted? Any help would be awesome, KT

A: Usually, if there was going to be a lawsuit, it would be against the company. Also, the FDA would probably pursue criminal charges for fraudulent claims, not monetary suits (although they may include fines). Typically the lawsuits put against these companies for money come from class-action lawsuits. That being said, I believe there were convictions and jail time from the Ephedra issue.

Q: Does using ephedra free Ripped Fuel cause a dirty UA?
I have to take a UA early next week for a job. I have been using Ripped Fuel metabolic enhancer that is Ephedra free for working out. Would the ingredients in that dietary supplement cause me to have a dirty UA?

A: I'm not sure since I don't know the ingredients; however, you should probably tell the people performing the UA (urine analysis) that you take that supplement.

Q: New ephedra alternative?
I heard there was a new ingredient that has the same effect as ephedra so lose fat and get cut/ripped...does anyone know what that ingredient is? or if there are any other good supplements out there that work as well as ephedra did to get cut and ripped?

A: Ephedrine and Ephedra based diet products have been banned. Subsequently many Ephedra alternatives have been introduced. No proper scientific studies have been done regarding them. The dangers of Ephedra or Ephedrine containing products is their tendency to increase Blood Pressure and the heart rate. Two Ephedra alternatives in the market are Xenadrine EPX, and Acculism. I am unable to get at reliable data regarding their side effects. There has not been sufficient research on what the manufactures claim. Acculism contains Citrus Aurantia and the manufacturers claim that they increase thermogenesis thus increasing metabolism. And they say that it does not have much effects on the heart or Blood pressure. But one has to await good research regarding these claims.

Q: Do all of the major weight loss pills have caffeine?
I have read that the major weight loss supplements are mostly caffeine (Xenadrine, Stacker, Trim Spa, Ect.). This is why most pro athletes do not use them. Is this statement true? Are there any caffeine free supplements? Also, is it true that ephedra is a form of caffeine?

A: You're right -- ALL the major weight loss pills are either LOADED with caffeine or they contain ephedra, which can be lethal if taken by teenagers or persons suffering from high blood pressure or heart disease. That is EXACTLY why pro-athletes won't take them. Ephedra = ephedrine hydrochloride, but I have no idea if that's in the caffeine family. And no, I can't name any weight loss or fat burning supplement that doesn't contain caffeine or ephedra (or both). BOTTOM LINE: They don't work over the long term and can have nasty long-term effects. The high levels of caffeine and/or ephedra mess with your metabolism and actually cause your metabolism to run slower after you stop taking them. So you could take them for a few months, lose the weight you want to lose, but once you stop you'll have to exercise harder or eat a lot less just to maintain. Not good. You're better off going the natural way. Check out the website below for a plan to lose weight and keep it off without the use of fat burners, supplements, or pills.

Q: Best weight loss pill.... post ephedra??
ever since the ephedra ban, every weight loss supplement i've tried isn't close. i only need to drop 15-20 pounds. any recommendations?

A: whatever you take should have adequate protein fulfilling the need of a human body 1 to 1.5gms of protein for each 2.2lbs of body weight min.15gms of protein per serving and other essential nutrients plus drinking one liter of water fo revery 44lbs to get the desired result, as water forms 80% of the human body. replace two of your meal with nutrition suggested above with low , low sugar, low salt, low carbohydrate.and you need to do the maintenance after the weight loss for the equal period of weight loss- replacing one meal a day and having two regular meals of your choice.

Q: is there any supplement by this features: Ripped Fuel 90 capsules (Ephedra Free) 50%free?
I use this supplement but I don't know it"s fake or not.

A: Ripped fuel is a supplement to help you loose fat. It works at least I think it promotes lean muscle mass as you exercise.

Q: Could it be my supplements? I really need help?
I think i have been getting a short fuse with people lately. Not very short, but definitly shorter. I dont know why. The thing i notice most is my girlfriend actually, i think shes being mean and all, but i realized i'm being very sensitive to everything she says and does. And trust me, she is a great girl who always makes me feel good. I have been taking ephedra, yohimba, yerba mate, and kola nut supplements. but for the past 4 days i cut down to only a mere 4mg of ephedra 2mg of yohimba and yerba mate and 50mg of kola nut, Which is nothing. THink it could be these supplements messing with my head?

A: Ephedra's bad news regardless. Only one way to know for certain though: stop taking them for a month, and see if there's a difference.

Q: Ephedra 5... anyone hear of it and if it works?
I saw an ad for a new legal Ephedra product today and am wondering if anyone has taken it and if it works? I've used the banned type of Ephedra in the past and it worked great, but you can't get it anymore. Would this be a good weight loss supplement to try out? The product is called Ephedra 5, I found their website and e-mailed them but haven't heard back yet. It's www.ephedra5.com.

A: It's not real ephedra as we know it. It's in the same family but not the real thing. Think of ordering tulips and getting onions instead. Don't waste your money. If it worked, it would fall under the ban.

Q: How do I lost the last 5-10 pounds? Its just not going, my body wont let go of it?
I have lost about 45 pounds with the help of a trainer, but the last 5-10 pounds are not going. I run 5 days a week (trainer says more than 5 wont benefit me at all) on an empty stomach, and I workout hard 6 days a week (5 of those days are with a trainer). I have a very clean diet (1200 calories which is kinda low for my weight/height: male, 160 pounds, 5'9) and have tried different weight loss drugs and supplements. I have used Meridia, ECA stack (ephedra, caffeine, aspirin) and have taken CLA. Based on my research, nothing else really works (pyruvate, etc....), can someone reccomend how I can lose these last few pounds? At most I'm losing maybe 1 pound a week, I used to lose at least 3 pounds a week, I know its going to go slower because I have less to lose, but what can I do to lose these last few pounds? I've heard of clen (clenbuterol) and DNP, but I dont want to use anything like either one of those. Thanks for the help guys

A: You'll have to up the intensity or change what you're doing with your training...and be patient. That last bit is the hardest. Good luck.
