Q: Why is caffeine intake of concern with weight-loss diets?
The South Beach diet says "no caffeine" during phase one of their diet. What difference does caffeine make - beyond possibly adding to the stress during what could already be a stressful period? Does it really have any effect on weight loss?

A: i have no idea why they would suggest no caffeine. Caffeine is a proven fat burner and there are litterally thousands of studies to back that up. special diets like that come and go. increasing caffeine intake is the way to go to cut body fat. just dont over due it.

Q: Which is more important for weight loss: diet or exercise?
When lose weight, is it better to just eat normal and exercise? Or is it better to go on a low calorie diet and exercise? I've recently heard that diet isn't neccessarily guarenteed to give you weight loss, but exercise will.

A: If you choose the right foods without excessive fat content you can eat most anything you want. Portion size is the key along with an exercise program. I'm a natural competitive bodybuilder and I can tell you 70% of how we end up looking for a show is diet related, 20% of what's done at the gym (although the hardest part physically) and maybe 5% of supplements that work for you. Loosing weight is all about how much goes in Vs. how much goes out. 3500 calories is a pound....proper eating and exercise will work.

Q: Weight loss diets?
I need to know this infomation for a PE project: -What are some good weight loss diets? (eg. Atkins Diet, low GI diet, etc) -Where can people find information about weight loss diets?

A: find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose. eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours) 5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day 8 glasses of water have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily. ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Q: How would you respond to an advertisement for a weight loss diet that claims that eating certain foods?
How would you respond to an advertisement for a weight loss diet that claims that eating certain foods can elevate the BMR and thus promote weight loss? this question is for a nutrition class

A: First: I don't believe anything. Second: I think about it. I recomend a very good article about this topic: http://www.easyunderstand.com/weightloss/56342.php

Q: Do you lose weight continuously when following a weight loss diet?
If I follow a 2 pounds a week weight loss plan for 14 weeks will I lose 28 pounds by the end of it or will there be a point where I will stop losing weight even if I eat the same food/low calorie diet?

A: You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight. You won't lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight. Low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt --- known as a dieting plateau. You can never get slim by starving yourself. A healthy weight loss program is one which does not make you lose weight in such a manner that your health is spoiled. Starvation is not a worthy way to lose weight because most people will fail to abide to the program rules after a certain period. Many such programs and diet plans go overboard in their attempt to make people lose fat rapidly. Fad diets or starvation diets are a definite no-no. There are so many harmful effects of starving yourself and not eating properly. And many times you would not lose body fat with such fad diets, instead you will lose water weight. Similarly - low carb diets, low protein diets etc. that make you eat only a certain kind of food and not others are also not a very good method of weight loss. Our own metabolism system play a vital part in controlling the amount of body fat burned in the process of providing energy to the body. Knowledge about our own metabolism function is the mother to all weight loss program. With the knowledge you not only reduce your weight but able to maintain an ideal weight and living a healthy life. Best of all you can eat what you most enjoyed without gaining any weight. The source will show you the way and it could probably safe your life as well.

Q: Is diet coke sabotaging my weight loss diet? Read details?
I drink TONS of water throughout the day...way way more than the recommended 8 cups. I do enjoy one diet coke a day (during supper time). I have heard so many bad rumors about diet coke and sabatoging your weight loss plans, not to mention your overall health (bones...cancer...ect) Should I take this out of my diet? If so, why? Or should I keep enjoying my one can a day? Scientific explanations and personal opinions welcome. Thanks!

A: Artificial sweetener has a bloating effect but by no means will one diet coke a day sabotage your diet.

Q: taking a little poll on diets and weight loss?
what is the best diet that you have ever been on, if you have been on multiple diets or tried different diets, which one would say worked the best. people seem to do well on weight watchers.

A: counting calories and exercising! its the most logical healthy diet, and its basically free!

Q: What is the effect of honey on diets and weight loss?
Personal experiences and sources would be nice.

A: Honey actually contains the same basic sugar units as table sugar. One teaspoon of table sugar contains 16 calories, while one teaspoon of honey has 22 calories. However, honey is less processed than table sugar and contains small amounts of vitamins and minerals that can aid in digestion. Try stevia, a safe natural herb that's sweeter than honey and can be found in health food stores.

Q: weight loss????
im on a pretty decent weight loss/diet/exercise schedule right now but i was wondering if any girls...or even guys..could tell me any things or tips they did that worked for them...or maybe even a routine you followed....thanks =)

A: Well done on your weight loss. It takes effort and determination. Good for you! The key to continued success and to stop the weight returning, is to adopt a healthy way of eating that will eliminate the need for future dieting. Of course, no one diet is right for everyone. However, one effective natural weight loss diet consists of eating the Paleolithic kinds of foods that our ancestors ate, which are natural for us to eat. This type of diet excludes all refined or processed foods (apart from a few treats/cheats a week). It consists of eating natural foods. Our ancestors didn't evolve eating carbohydrates. As a result, our bodies are: well equipped to consume good fats and proteins and poorly equipped to consume refined/processed carbs. When we adopt a natural weight loss diet more like the one our Paleolithic ancestors had and begin to move (exercise) more often, as our active ancestors did, we can both lose weight and keep the weight off. The most comprehensive weight loss programs combine healthy eating with the right kind of exercise because this helps to replace body fat with muscle, which in turn helps to stop body fat from returning. There are free dietary programs, at the resource listed below, that are wholly natural. At that same weight loss resource there are two free e-books: “How to Stop Emotional Eating” and “Meditation An Aid To Weight Loss”. There are also free exercise programs at that same resource. Good luck for the future. I wish you continued success.

Q: I am a college student wondering if anyone could help me with free weight loss diets that show results? ?
I'm a student in college now and I've started to feel extremely unhappy with my body shape. I am about 5'1 and I feel like I weigh too much for my body type. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about fast weight loss diets that don't cost money. I know I shouldn't lose weight the unhealthy way such as the 3-day fruit diets, but I just want to know what works. I was planning on going on a fruits only diet for the next three days, but I dont know if I am just wasting my time, I want something with results, so if anyone could help me with loosing as much weight as I possibly can within the next month for break that would b great.

A: There's two ways you could go and I think either way will work for you. First of all, my best suggestion is to learn to eat healthy. http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/eat-healthy.html That means understand the food pyramid, the food groups, the recommended servings, etc. That is how you should eat for life! If you eat that way and have 3 small, healthy meals a day and 2 small, healthy snacks, you will lose weight. Each meal should be less than 400 calories and each snack should be about 100-150 calories. Eating highly nutritious foods is the key, so think in terms of lean protein, veggies, whole-grains, fruits, low-fat dairy, and heart-healthy oils. The second option is to do a short-term "drastic diet" that is designed to last for 2 weeks max. This would take off the most weight rapidly. There are several on the site under "Diet Plans" but my favorite is the 5-4-3-2-1 diet. http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/5-4-3-2-1diet.html You get to pick what you eat, but you're going to want to pick highly nutritious foods to keep your metabolism working efficiently. Again, the "eat healthy" page can help you determine what highly nutritious foods are, if you need help with that. If you go on the short-term diet, then once it's over, follow the guidelines on the "eat healthy" page. Make water your main source of hydration and save the sweet drinks (even diet) for special occasions. Eliminate as much salt and sugar from your diet as you can. The biggest component to fast weight loss is going to be your workout. You will want to make sure you do a good (30 minute minimum) cardio workout every day for weight loss (3 times a week is sufficient to maintain health). Activities that use the large leg muscles burn the most calories. These activities also tone the lower body quite effectively. Think in terms of power walking, jogging, biking, skating, swimming laps, jumping rope, dancing, racquetball, and jumping jacks. To make sure that you're burning fat, you need to be sweating and huffing and puffing. In addition, do some good stretches and some strength training. http://www.easy-weightloss-tips.com/target-exercises.html You'll find some really good information on the website, including about five pages of weight loss tips, printable weight loss journal pages, printable exercise log sheets, motivational ideas, healthy recipes, etc. Good luck!

Q: Does anyone know a quick weight loss diet?
I have to go to this wedding in a couple of months, and want to lose some weight. Is there a diet out there that drops pounds FAST? I have heard of the Size Zero Pill, but don't know how to get it. Any ideas for weight loss? Thank you.

A: You can Lose 9 lbs every 11 days after you know these facts: Low Fat Foods DON'T WORK......... You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight. Low Calorie Diets DON'T WORK........ You won't lose weight using a Low Calorie Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low calories is the worst thing that you can do to your body, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and ruin all chances of losing weight (low calorie diets may allow a few pounds of weight loss for the first few days, but then after that all weight loss comes to a halt --- known as a dieting plateau). You can never get slim by starving yourself. Low Carb Plans DON'T WORK....... You'll probably find it extremely difficult to get slim using a Low Carb Dieting Plan. Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last couple years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and TOO HARD TO FOLLOW for average people. Low carb menus tend to rob your body of too much energy (carbohydrates) and make it nearly impossible to remain on the program for very long. This is why so many dieters find it difficult to follow a strict low carbohydrate menu. In fact, the food that you eat can either make you THIN or FAT!!! GO to the source below,, http://www.yesloseweight.com It will tell you the whole secret of weight loss and tell you how to lose weight by eating Chicken,Fish Filet,Cottage Cheese, sandwich and so on.You can find weight loss is so easy and so happy!!!!!

Q: Does anybody know where I can find a Qucik Weight Loss diet plan?
I have been exercising 4 times a week at a place that is similar to curves called Butterfly Life. I feel great from exercising, but I am not losing any weight. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but I really need to start eating healthier. There are some Quick Weight Loss places around here, but I really don't have the extra money get into it. I had a baby June 1st, am 5'9" and weigh 240. I'm trying to lose about 60 pounds. Does anyone have any good diet plans or helpful hints?

A: If you want a quick weight loss diet plan go to this blog http://uk.360.yahoo.com/neville044

Q: What would be a good weight loss diet/work out plan for me?
I'm 6'5" and about 270. I have a large frame. I just got a gym membership a week ago and have been going pretty consistently so far. I need a good routine though. My goals for now are weight loss, core strength and definition. I'll worry about muscle gain later.

A: Firstly...stay away from weight loss pills...please..(bad experience..dont ask why) Make your gym routine to about 3 times a week. That way its not too intense and its just about achievable Don't do much weights for now....so you won't gain much muscle and you will lose calories. Next...Try something to increase your metabolism. The best i've found so far has been white tea and a combination of acai... coz its got tons more antioxidants than green tea and leads to higher metabolism levels. I got a free pack from http://freewhitetea.com I don't know if they have any packs left. Don't worry too much about your diet...as long as u keep up the exercise schedule and drink white tea 2 or 3 times a day you should start seeing results in 2 weeks tops. White tea will help suppress your appetite so it will naturally help you keep overeating in check. Now for your definition...by which i assume you mean weight loss and weight gain in the right areas....this is all about naturally losing the fat content first and then building up your frame. Once you start going to the gym..whatever you do..the fats will always go from the heavy areas...and after 2 months or so..when you are ready to gain muscle ..you can work the right areas! Hope I helped!

Q: Does the Nutrisystem Weight Loss Diet Program really work?
I plan on getting on the weight loss program in November (after having a baby). I would like to know if it really works???!!!! Just checked out their website and started looking around. I can’t find a price without letting them know my personal information. Does anyone know about how much it cost? Did it work for you? My plan is to drop about 50-60 pounds. The reason I am considering Nutrisystem is because the food is already made. With having a new baby I will be pressed for time. Please only respond if you have tried it or know someone that has. Thanks everyone!

A: Hi, I just ordered Nutrisystem on Saturday 8/25/07 and I recieved my box of food yesterday 8/29/07. I have been on it for 2 full days! The first day I hated the first 2 things I ate and I was pretty pissed off and thought I would deffinatly quit. But today, however, everything I ate was actually really good!! I oredered the variety pack and my next month I'll get to choose which meals I like. You get ALOT of food and you eat like 6 times a day. They give you one week free...so it's 5 whole weeks of food. I paid exactly $293.90. It just was charged onto my credit card today. The people on the site are really cool and there are chat boards and free online classes. There is a lot to do on the site and it's quite fun making friends that are doing the same thing you are. I work ALOT, so I think that this is the best diet plan for me. I have gained 45 pounds since having my daughter 9 months ago (in November also). So far i feel like i have more energy and I'm happy with it. Don't just take my advice though....I've only been on it for 2 days. Best of Luck!!! : )
