Q: Can a high protein , low card and low fat diet work for someoen who does cardio( 20 mins+) AFTER excercising?
I wanna add muscle and want to loose fat at the same time. But i don't wanna get huge. just lean. I am 20 , 6 ft tall and 175 lbs and I wanna make a plan to achieve my goal.
I heard people say concentrate first on getting huge and then cut down on the fat. I lift weights and then do my cardio for 30 mins, and eat a high protein diet. will it work?? I gues it really comes down to how much carb i want in my diet!! Help
A: You need some carbs. You need to take in at least 60 grams a day and with your age and workout 120 would be fine to, That would be considered a low carb diet. Just make you carbs count, eat complex carbs like whole grains and beans, They both add quality protein to your diet.
Recent studies have shown that to stay lean you need fat in your diet. Again it is the quality of the fat that counts. Eat cold water fish for excellent protein and fat. Try to stay away from all other animal fats. Olive oil is a very healthy fat.
Other studies show that eating some protein before and after exercise causes faster gains. It helps the muscle repair itself faster.

Q: Which is more effective, a low calorie diet or a low fat diet?
I work full time, I walk a little over 4 miles a day and work out in the gym about 3 times a week... I want to lose a stone... Would a low fat diet or a low calorie diet be more effective?
1 stone=14 pounds
A: It is never a good idea to completely cut off any one single source of calories/nutrition - any dietary table will tell you that humans need EACH food group there is, and that includes fat. Based on that knowledge, it would not be advisable to cut off fat, but to try to approximate the guidelines set by the dietary board, and to adjust accordingly.
Lessening your caloric intake, coupled with an increase of your activities (physical) will help quicken that pace of "losing".
You might want to consider circuit training - alternating exercises of cardiovascular and strength natures, about 1-3 minutes each only per exercise. (Example: 2 minutes of bench presses - with light weights of course, if you'll be doing it for 2 minutes, that's the only way to sustain it; then followed by 2 minutes on the treadmill, then 2 minutes of squats or lunges, then two minutes on the stairmaster, etc.) Many gym clients swear by this method of losing weight, a combination of cardiovascular and weight training exercises.
I mention the circuit training idea above because you seem to be already active in working out - you might need to "shock" your body in a new direction, especially since the body is notoriously adept at adapting to routines, which seems like what your exercise regimen is becoming - routinary.
The best bet for diet advice is to consult a dietitian or doctor, they need to measure your current caloric intake and adjust it accordingly.
Good luck!
Q: Is monounsaturated fat beneficial as an addition to a diet or only if it's as a replacement for saturated fat
I thought to improve my cholestrol levels by adding monounsaturated fat to my low-fat diet, but my GP (Dr) thinks this may only be beneficial as a replacement for saturated fat that's already included in the diet.
A: Mono and poly unsaturated fats are good at controlling cholesterol levels by raising HDL (good cholesterol) and lowering LDL (bad cholesterol).
I seriously recommend you read this article, it was in the May issue of Men's health magazine and wow... totally changed the way I look at edible fats.

Q: Can you still build muscle on a low fat/low cal diet?
I heard that you had to ingest more calories than usual in order to build muscle. Is this true? Or is it possible to gain muscle on a low cal/low fat diet?
A: No.You need to eat,low fat/low cal is a big myth,carbs are the enemy.
Q: How many daily grams of protein (p), carbohydrates (c), and fat (f) will this diet include?
A nutrition specialist planned a low-calorie, low-fat diet for a patient. The patient’s daily calorie intake from 540 grams of food will be 2410 calories with 40% of the calories from protein. There are 4 calories per gram of protein, 4 calories per gram of carbohydrate, and 9 calories per gram of fat. (Hint: Use Cramer’s rule to solve.) (This is for Algebra)
A: if you demand that 40% of calories come from protein...
then 2410*0.4 = 964 calories from protein... this requires... 241 g of protein...
1446 calories come from fat and carbs ... and it should amount to... 299 grams.
F + C = 299
9F + 4C = 1446
5F = 250
F = 50
Thus C = 249
Cramer's Rule is not necessary.

Q: does anyone know what diet pills actually work to help burn fat?
i am looking for a fat burner diet pill to use with my diet and exercise that helps reduce body fat while i work out... i know they say diet and exercise should be enough but i need a little help as well.. has anyone tried any ?and did it have any side effects? and did it work?
A: I can tell you that the latest findings show that NO DIET PILLS WORK. They may help you lose water weight in the beginning, but then they don't work, and have a bunch of bad side effects.
Keep doing what you're doing. Be patient. You WILL lose the weight.
Bless you and Good luck. :)
Q: What are some stomach exercises to do help get rid of belly fat besides diet?
What are some stomach exercises to do help get rid of belly fat besides diet?I am on a diet.
A: Youre talking about spot reduction. Cant be done. Fat is lost throughtout your body, Cant tell it where to go from.
U do aerobic exercises to lose fat. And HIIT is the best way to do it.
Q: does anyone out there have a great low fat diet?
I am going on the diet drug Xenical and I will be needing a low fat diet and am looking to see if anyone out there has a good one for me to follow so I do not get many of the side effects of the drug.
A: Lose the diet pill. It's unhealthy and will do you more harm than good.
Drink V8, V8 Splash or V8 Smoothies to ensure you get your fruits and veggies. It's hard to monitor your nutrition intake when you're on a diet to lose weight.
Drink a lot of water. If you're not a fan of drinking lots of it, add a ton of ice and lemon juice.
Eat a lot of fruit. Fruits are mostly water, but they are delicious and good for you. Make smoothies too.. real smoothies, don't add any crappy weight loss powders to them. Diets don't have to be boring and tedious. You can eat pasta, but watch your portions. Sushi (in my opinion, I don't know what you think) is delicious and healthy, but again, watch your portions) opt for less surgary drinks. If you can, cut soda completely. Don't fall for anything that wants you to pay for your diet unless it's Weight Watchers. Most are scams and will shrink your wallet instead of your waist size. You are perfectly capable of dieting without having to pay for it.
Axelrod yogurt is very good, is a decent sized container, and only 90 calories. Watch the serving portions and calories when you go grocery shopping. Only keep healthy foods at home. The best way to beat temptation is to completely avoid it.
Good luck.
Q: whats the difference in weight gained from too many calories compared to too much fat in a diet?
i went on a quick diet and ifound when i ate less calories i would gradually lose weight but then i went to a low fat diet and the weight dropped off. can anyone explain to me the differences in fat from calories and fat from fat?
A: Calories are not the enemy, fat calories are...if you eat more fat calories than you need they go directly to fat stores (and you don't need that much fat in your diet)...whereas, most other calories (besides sugar...which unmetabolized becomes fat) are perfect for you and are necessary for energy levels that will allow you to work out and stay fit.
Q: What is a good healthty fat burning diet?
I'm currently about 183lbs in the morning.. my body fat calculator says I'm at 20% body fat. I only have chub around the mid section. I exercise often and take hydroxycut. I am not dieting and would like to know a healthy fat burning diet. I heard something about chicken and rice? does anyone have suggestions?I want to get to 10% bodyfat. Or close.
A: green tea as much as you can consume each day will speed up the metabolism. Also eat a healthy diet + 5 pieces of fruit and veg per day.
