Q: what happens if you use a asthma inhaler and don't have asthma?
i used my friends inhaler and i don't
have asthma will it hurt me?
A: You won't die but you just inhale medication used to open up your lungs and it contains a form of steroids. It won't make you muscular or anything. It also won't make you high either. I don't if prolong unnecessary use can cause serious effects. Just don't do it again, and don't worry this one time thing won't hurt you:)
Q: Which brand of Mexican asthma inhaler is the best one?
I believe that all Mexican brand inhalers are NOT created equal.
I just found this out not too long ago and I'm now wondering which are the better brands to use. The two that I use is..... Xenerics-s and Salbutamol GI.
Is there anyone out there that would know anything about this?
A: You should ask a Doctor or pharmacist to be safe. All medications from out of country are not always safe.
My wife had asthma as a child but it has been too long for us to remember and medications for asthma I am sure have changed.
Please consult your physician.
Q: Does anyone know the North American equivalent to the German asthma inhaler 'Symbicort'?
I used a very effective inhaler in Germany called Symbicort. I'm looking for the North American equivalent.
Does anyone know what the equivalent is?
A: Symbicort should be available in the US this summer. Ask your doctor and pharmacist about it.

If for some reason you cant get it, Advair is like symbicort with two medications in one dry powder inhaler.
Q: Is a brown asthma inhaler stronger than a blue one? How many are there?
I got asthma 7 years ago, was put on a blue inhaler, and that was all. About four years ago or so was also put on an inaler called Symbicort and about a year ago started taking tablets called Singulair but still find myself having to take the blue inhaler (100mg ventolin) several times a day.....but then I do smoke.....own fault I guess!
A: Google is your friend. Just type in "asthma medications and inhalers" into the google search engine and press enter, it will bring you to tons of pages on asthma inhalers medications..
Brown is corticosteroid (a preventer NOT a reliever) while the blue is a reliever (last for four hours and can relief symptoms fast)
Q: What other ways is there for you to control your asthma without an inhaler?
my asthma is bothering me and I don't have my inhaler with me so I was wondering if there were another way of controlling your asthma...I know steam helps really well is there anything else I could use/do to help tone it down?
A: Two cups of strong Coffee.
Q: can someone help me find an alternative to the asthma inhaler called advair?
i dont want to take this anymore but cannot breathe without it..
Can someone help me find another alternative to this medicine and that will work as a bronchodialator?
A: One of my children is asthma sufferer and sport(especially swimming) does help. In the case of attack the singing and laughing with proper breathing exercise seems to help.
Q: How often can I use an asthma inhaler?
Everyday?
A: I have an inhaler and on the side it's listed as use twice daily as needed. I don't use it daily though, only when I need it. But, to answer your question, do NOT use more than 2 times a day. If you need it more, go to the doctor and request an inhaler with a higher prescription. He may also put you on respiratory care and breathing exercises.
Good luck!
Q: what does a serevent inhaler do for asthma?
My stepson uses all three coloured inhalers, but i cant seem to find out what the green serevent inhaler does for his asthma. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? also does taking a double dose of the brown inhaler help with a bad non productive cough?
Sorry the "brown one" is the beclometasone 50 inhaler (its in a brown caseing)
A: Serevent (salmeterol) is a long acting bronchodilator but has to be used long term for it to work. It is not designed for use in acute episode of shortness of breath, that is why you always have an albuterol inhaler handy. It does the same thing (broncho dilation) but is fast acting but is also short lasting. the brown inhaler is a steroid and stops the asthma a different way, by acting as an anti-inflammatory medicine. that should clear up what your 3 inhalers are a long acting broncodilator, a quick acting bronchodilator and a anti inflammatory steroid.
Q: How long does it take to see if you have any side effects from using a asthma inhaler?
From the first time u use it 5 mintues?? hours?days??
A: asthma inhalors are fast actiing if they are rescue inhalers ... in minutes the side effects will become noticeable, but if the inhalor has a steriod in it it may take a couple of weeks to see the side effctes and those will be much more subtle.
Q: If one uses an expired asthma inhaler to relieve an attack will it work still?
A: It's possible but you shouldn't take the chance. Medications expire for a reason. Maybe your MD can get you free samples if you have trouble paying for prescriptions.
Q: Is there a non-prescription asthma inhaler very similar to Albuterol ?
I've read that Primatene, etc are counter-productive.
A: Primatene mist is made with racemic epinephrine and is a drug that we use in the hospital only for severe swelling of the trachea. The drug has serious issues when used by non-medical professionals as they tend to keep using more and more of the drug to get the effect that they want. The problem with that is after a certain level it 'rebounds' and will actually close the airways that you are trying to open making your breathing problem emergent instead of just a little difficult. Primatene should be taken off the shelves and the respiratory community has been working for years to do so, however once a drug is approved it is quite difficult to get it unapproved. Albuterol is available very cheaply at both Target and Walmart now and when compared to the cost of Primatene and the increased safety of using the correct medication with less side effects why would you want to use it.
Q: What is a way to relieve asthma (weezing) without an inhaler?
My inhaler instantle cures any wheezing or tight chested feelings I get from my mild asthma.
However, if I don't have an inhaler handy, is there some other method/household product or whatever which may have the same effect?
A: If I don't have an inhaler handy (and I have severe asthma) I have been stuck in this position before and I found the instant solution. Go to your nearest coffee shop and order a triple shot of espresso. Don't add anything at all - yuck, I know. You take the tiny cup when it's cool enough to handle and take a big enough sip to hold for about 30 seconds or more under your tounge. You keep doing that till it's gone. It usually clears the asthma symptoms within 5 minutes of starting. The only other thing you must do is remove yourself from any irritant that caused the symptoms - ie. a large crowd of smokers, large dusty areas, a shady area that may contain mold, and for me it was an airport (allergic to rubber and off gassing). I am glad to pass this on to you for help.
I tried adding just a little cream and it failed, just a little sugar will fail it, it must be taken sub lingually black as it came out of the espresso maker.
It's the caffeine that dilates your lungs, and the old theophillin pills were known to be an equivalent to 24 cups of coffee worth of stimulant similar to caffeine.
Q: does this inhaler for asthma contain steroids?
i take a inhaler for asthma and i was woundering that is the one im taking contain steroids. the one i have is called: QVAR 40 mcg. (beclomethasonedipropionate HFA) i only want to know this because if it does contain steroids, i want to disscontinue this medication.
A: Yes, it does contain steroids but why wouldn't you want to take it? There are 2 types of steroids anabolic steroids--- steroids that people use to build muscles.... they have the side affects of acne, rage, etc... and the other type is corticosteroids--- these are used to reduce inflammation such as seen in rhinitis and asthma... they do not have the same side effects as anabolic steroids such as the acne, rage, etc... Most likely if Dr. prescribed it to you it is because you need it.
