Q: Hi, I had asthma problems as a child and am now planning on entering the military?
I would just like accurate info on military guidelines pertaining to asthma and military service, i have not had troubles since i was a child but was diagnosed at that time.
A: d. Asthma, (493), including reactive airway disease, exercise induced bronchospasm or asthmatic bronchitis, reliably diagnosedat any age. Reliable diagnostic criteria should consist of any of the following elements:
(1) Substantiated history of cough, wheeze, and/or dyspnea that persists or recurs over a prolonged period of time, generally more than 6 months.
(2) If the diagnosis of asthma is in doubt, a test for reversible airflow obstruction (greater than a 15 percent increase in forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEVI) following administration of an inhaled bronchodilator) or airway hyperactivity (exaggerated decrease in airflow induced by standard bronchoprovocation challenge such as methacholine inhalation or a demonstration of exercise-induced bronchospasm) must be performed.

To summarize if you've had asthma *treatment* after the age of 13 you will have to get a waiver. The only way a waiver will be considered is if you take a test on your own dime proving you don't have asthma.
Q: Why was my question removed?
I was referring to my son who has asthma. I wanted to know what actually was happening to him months ago when he was in the ER with an o2 level of 82 and doctors, specialists, etc rushing in. It was here earlier, but now it is gone. I got 2 very honest and accurate replies. Why would this be removed?? I even made sure it followed the community guidelines.
What things start to happen to your body when your oxygen level drops?

A: If someone reported it, you should have received a Violation Notice email from Yahoo!Answers (check your junk mail maybe?) and you could appeal or it to be reinstated. It cetainly looks like a legitimate question, so if it was reported, it was probably a troll who goes around reporting people. :)
Q: Fired & Denied Unemployment?
I worked for a large corp and was a temporary employee for 6 months before getting hired in. I mentioned this to show that I was a good employee in which the company felt I was a good employee to get hired in.
In February I was hired in and it was a huge transition to what I did as a temp but took on the challenge & was doing well. Needless to say things took a drastic change for the worst. From Feb - Sept my parents, brother & sister-n-law, my wife and finally me had car accidents causing me to go to the hospital and missing time for these occasions, I also continued going to doctor appts for my shoulder sinced I was on a sling and sprained it. I also had a death in the family and a funeral in which more time was missed. So all this being said I racked up close to 4 wks of missed time. So 08' was an awful year for me and I paid the price for it I received a verbal in July & a written in Sept. Granted my supervisor on both occasions mentioned it was just the guidelines they had to follow but they are aware of the situations that I've run into but hope everything gets normal for me.
So after that things got better I didn't have any more drama in Sept, Oct, Nov even putting in OT since my co-worker was out about 2 wks for her sons asthma. But after the thanksgiving holidays I picked up a virus which gave me a 102 fever and a right ear infection. I did visit the doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics and told me to return to work another day since what I had was contagious. These days were the 1st & 2nd of Dec. As I was returning to work on the 3rd my wife called my from home in severe pain in which she could not move. I had to turn around and I took her to the emergency room and was there all day and even called my employer from the patient room to give an update as to her condition.
I returned to work on the 4th with my Doctors note and a letter from the emergency room stating I was with the patient from 7:30am to 3:00pm. I returned to be told I was being let go even though I pleated with them stating the 2 causes I was out was beyond my control and I was sorry for that.
Today I've just learned that I was denied unemployment so the weeks I've been claiming I won't be receiving anything. So my question is should I just move on and more than likely lose my house since I've made 0 income since November or is it worth appealing?
A: don give up yet..when you claim unemployment..you should have put you didn't meet the employment requirement.file again and if they denied you again file a hearing against the judgment.maybe it could be that you didn't meet the quarter. they will send you a letter reason why you was denied on the letter will tell you if you feel this was wrong you could respond to the following address above within 30 to 60 days...if you feel that you cant keep up with your rent and you have kids and a wife there other help. i no public assistance help pay rent and other thing..please don be ashamed to apply all you need is the letter from your job saying why you was fired and the denied letter from unemployment and your lease for how much you pay a month...please don let your self fall apart be strong keep your head up every one need help time to time
Q: Should I be concerned about my 7 week old baby being overweight?
My husband and I adopted our baby boy at birth. His birth weight was 8lbs. 0oz. and at that time he was 21" tall. Because he was adopted, he is bottle fed. Currently he is on Good Start Supreme formula and drinks about 5oz. every 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours on his request, which is dictated to us by him basically nonstop crying no matter what we do to soothe him unless he gets his bottle. Our doctor agreed that this is how we should feed him, saying that "if he's hungry, feed him".
At 7 weeks, he is now 24 inches long, and 15 lbs. He is tall, but he is also quite pudgy. He is a very adorable and an extremely cute baby; however, I am aware that he is on the larger side and above the 95th percentile. I know this not only from the guideline charts, but also from the fact that he has cute little chubby rolls all over his body and about 3 chins.
We do know that both of his bio-parents are thin and come from thin families. My husband and I are also thin. My greatest concern is that because he has already just about doubled his weight before he has even reached 2 months (and this I have been told does not usually happen until about 4-5 months) that he may be subject to future problems such as developmental delays, Type 2 diabetes, asthma and/or childhood and adult obesity. I have read that all of these things have been shown to be related to overweight infants.
I have made an appointment to see the Pediatrician later today because of my concerns, but just wanted to make sure my concerns are valid and that I am not over-reacting. Is 15 lbs. too much for a 7 week old 24" infant to weigh? What are some questions that I should ask the doctor? Please be kind in your responses. I really want to do the best thing for my child, and I am not using this site for medical answers, just thoughts and advice from other experienced parents.
A: no worries. My son was 8lbs 8oz when he was born. He was the exact same way as your son when it comes to his eating habits. My son ate more then average and ate a little more frequently. Hes also been formula feed from the start. His pediatrician said hes doing great and as long as hes eating and gaining weight then I have nothing to worry about. I mean he wasn't gaining a significant amount that worried his doctor. My son was also 21inches long at birth. His weight has always been above average since day 1. hes 5 months now and weighs 19lbs and 27 inches long.
