Q: How do the symptoms differ - Anxiety vs Long QT syndrome?
I get this fluttering in my chest when I'm stressed or sometimes while falling asleep. Went to a cardio 2 years ago and after many tests he said I'm fine. There are skipped beats but nothing to be worried about. I do have anxiety issues and always had them but still, this bothers me. Since I gave birth to my daughter the symptoms have become a lot worse.

A: Signs and symptoms of Long QT syndrome: About half those with long QT syndrome don't have any signs or symptoms. They may be aware of their condition only from results of an electrocardiogram (ECG) performed for an unrelated reason, because they have a family history of long QT syndrome or because of genetic testing results. For people who do experience signs and symptoms of long QT syndrome, the most common symptoms include: Fainting. This is the most common sign of long QT syndrome. In people with long QT syndrome, fainting spells (syncope) are caused by the heart temporarily beating in an erratic way. These fainting spells may happen when you're excited, angry, scared, or during exercise. Fainting in people with long QT syndrome can occur without warning, such as losing consciousness after being startled by a ringing telephone. Signs and symptoms that you're about to faint include lightheadedness, heart palpitations or irregular heartbeat, weakness and blurred vision. If you think you're about to faint, sit or lie down and tell someone near you about your symptoms. However, in long QT syndrome, such warning signs before fainting are unusual. Seizures. If the heart continues to beat erratically, the brain becomes increasingly deprived of oxygen. This can then cause generalized seizures. In fact, some people with long QT syndrome have been misdiagnosed as having a seizure disorder and have even been treated with anti-epileptic medications. Sudden death. Normally, the heart returns to its normal rhythm. If this doesn't happen spontaneously and paramedics don't arrive in time to convert the rhythm back to normal with an external defibrillator, sudden death will occur. Signs and symptoms of inherited long QT syndrome may start during the first months of life, or as late as middle age. Most people who experience signs or symptoms from long QT syndrome have their first episode by the time they're age 40. Most LQTS-related deaths occur in people ages 11 to 30. Rarely, signs and symptoms of long QT syndrome may occur during sleep or arousal from sleep. Some doctors believe that inherited LQTS-causing mutations likely explain about 10 percent to 15 percent of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Signs and symptoms of generalized anxiety: Signs and symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder can vary in combination or severity. Generalized anxiety disorder symptoms may include: Restlessness Feeling of being keyed up or on edge Feeling a lump in your throat Difficulty concentrating Fatigue Irritability Impatience Being easily distracted Muscle tension Trouble falling or staying asleep Excessive sweating Shortness of breath Stomachache Diarrhea Headache If you have generalized anxiety disorder, you may experience times when your worries don't completely consume you, but you still feel rather anxious. You may feel on edge about many or all aspects of your life. For example, you may feel intense worry about your safety or that of your loved ones, or you may have a general sense that something bad is about to happen, even when there's no apparent danger. Generalized anxiety disorder often begins at an early age, and the signs and symptoms may develop more slowly than in other anxiety disorders. Many people with generalized anxiety disorder can't recall when they last felt relaxed or at ease.

Q: Why would a mag/cal supplement free me of my anxiety disorder symptoms for two months and then stop helping?
I have had chronic stress for 9 years, but could metal in my body (fillings, leg rod, tap water) also play into these anxiety disorder symptoms (heart palpitations, arrhythmia, shortness of breath)?

A: i understand what you mean, i also got symptoms like this before but i now i feel good, better. i am taking Vilift and everything is normal for me now.

Q: Has anyone had physical symptoms of anxiety and depression after miscarriage?
Before my miscarriage at 6 weeks, I had a "feeling" something was wrong. Right after the miscarriage, I stuffed my feelings deep down. After my first cycle, I started to feel achy in my feet and arms, physically numb and tingly, lost interest in things, had twitching and believed I myself was dying from a disease. A complete blood count and electrolyte panel were done (nothing) and the doctor told me I was suffering from anxiety and depression and I am now seeking counseling. Can the physical symptoms come first before you even realize your depressed? I guess I just feel that I was 'right' about the miscarriage, so I must be 'right' that something is truly physically wrong.

A: Yes! I had a miscarraige three years ago when I was in my second month and I know that I was an emotional/physical wreck and then some. I had to seek counseling and be put on anti-depressants for a few months. My doctor also told me that I would never be able to get pregnant again. The doctor was downright wrong. Thankfully I'm blessed and carrying a little baby girl now that's due on september 15th :)

Q: what are some symptoms of anxiety?
okay im a teenager and i think i might have anxiety. or something like that. its dring me crazy. what are some symptoms of it?

A: Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. It helps you cope with tense situations. It also helps you focus on the task at hand and motivates you. Almost everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. Typically, anxiety goes away when the triggering event is resolved. However, anxiety is a problem when it becomes an excessive, irrational dread of everyday situations, such as riding an elevator or leaving your house. People with anxiety disorder experience fear and worry that are out of proportion to the situation. These feelings are difficult to control and are more intense and last longer than normal feelings of anxiety. For instance, while it's normal to feel anxiety before public speaking, a person with anxiety disorder may consistently worry about speaking with small groups of people in everyday situations. Both normal worry and anxiety may be associated with the following symptoms. However, a person with anxiety disorder will experience these symptoms more frequently and intensely: Restlessness Fatigue Irritability and crankiness Muscle tension Headaches Sleep difficulties (unable to fall or stay asleep) Feelings of panic, such as sweating and shortness of breath If you find it difficult to control your worry or stress or if anxiety interferes with your daily activities, consult your doctor or a mental health professional. If you are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, effective treatment is available.

Q: can someone tell me their symptoms of anxiety please?
i need to know so i don`t feel all alone here. i have anxiety/panic disorder for years. what are some of your symptoms is what i want to know and is their any special techniques i can use to calm myself down when i have a full blown attack ? please do not say meds, i am on anxiety medicine for years, xanax and its not really workin for me now, i have to take more of it to even feel the affects

A: This is what happens to me: I will start to feel like my throat is closing up and I worry about not being able to breathe. Then my chest starts hurting because I can't get a good breath. All the while my heart will be racing and I will be thinking that I am going to die. I try and find ways out of where I am because I feel like I am going to pass out. What helped me was just knowing what was happening. Now I can tell myself that I am not going to die and this will be over soon. If you kinda just ride it and try to breathe, it seems to be over quicker. If my boyfriend is around I'll have him come sit with me just to be there. My therapist went over some breathing and visualization techniques that work for me. You breathe in slow and visualize breathing in a good, calm energy (mine just looks like water), and then breathe out slow and imagine all the anxiety coming out. The breathing by itself didn't really help me, but the images did. I hope this helps. I know how hard it can be. I've had social and general anxiety and panic disorder for years and I didn't find out until less than a year ago. That's why I say it helps just knowing what is going on. So far meds haven't really helped me, but trying to live a more balanced and relaxed lifestyle have been key. Good luck to you!

Q: How do anxiety attacks symptoms feel?
Like before you have an actual attack, "Before I got an anxiety attack it first felt like..." ?

A: Okay it feels like when you can't breathe and you want to and you can't. because it happened to me when i was at the hospital.

Q: what are your physical symptoms in regards to anxiety dissorder?
I have a myriad of physical symptoms and having a hard time accepting that all that is wrong with me is anxiety dissorder.....so, if you wouldnt mind sharing with me????? thanks

A: When i have an attack, I can't breath and I have to get to an open space asap. Like a real open space. But I also have Agoraphobia as well so big crowds can trigger it. I have meds though. Meds make me happeh!!

Q: Is it common to have physical symptoms that are anxiety that happen all of a sudden even if..?

Q: Can some with PTSD be fine, but experience severe anxiety symptoms after seeing or talking to certain people?
I was diagnosed with an social anxiety and panic disorder. One therapist from the past believes I have PTSD. However, I'm not sure, because I always seem to get better, and my anxiety will start to decrease and I will honestly begin making plans to improve my life. However, when I speak to the parent who was very abusive towards me as a child, I immediately begin to have the severe anxiety and depression symptoms like clock work. Even my speech is effected, to the point where I begin to stutter as I did during my childhood, and can barely talk to this parent. My muscles also become very tense and I'm left sore the next day. Afterall, if the severe symptoms only surface when speaking to this parent or other abusers. If I have no symptoms when staying away from these triggering people. is it really ptsd? Has anyone else experienced these drastic changes in mood and anxiety as well?

A: That sounds like a classic case of PTSD. My father has a really bad case of it. Anything can trigger an attack but an encounter with the person who caused the trauma would be much more likely to do so.

Q: What are the symptoms of anxiety?
I keep getting numb in my legs and feeling sick. I also keep dwelling on past events for no reason, been happening every day now. Also I can only sleep for about 7 hours and no more. I never used to be like that, i could sleep in afternoons too. Does that mean I have anxiety. I don't really want to take pills though.

A: I personally think what your doing is worrying to much.....But what does worrying ever do for you ? Don't worry so much. That isn't really anxiety. Forget about your past....it's gone. All you can do is focus on the present. Learn ways to make yourself relax. There are really good ways to do that. Like listening to nature CD or some calming music....the kind to meditate to. All local stores have them. It helps to put your mind in another place....to think of nothing...only...relaxing and being relaxed. Try it, see how it goes But do give it some time, for your body and your mind to become accustomed to this change. Wear head phones on at night in bed with the music low and soothing. Light insense , it helps. I hope this will help. Good Luck.

Q: How to tell if its anxiety or asthma symptoms?
i have anxiety i dont think i have asthma i just want to be sure because both run in my family.

A: its not linked....neither of them causes or give rise to each other....but on the other hand if u r on medication of anxiety it might worsen ur asthma (off course only if u have it) because anti anxiety drugs are known to cause CNS depression which might lead to an attack of asthma.....

Q: What are some of the symptoms of anxiety and anxiety disorders?
Also, depression? Thanks so much. I have trichotillomania, and I've heard that these can lead to it?

A: shaking fear of social situations inability to get words out stiffness depression nervous stomach sweating rapid heartbeat nail biting Maybe it is the symtoms of anxiety that make you feel like pulling your hair out or the things that led up to the anxiety. Anyhow, I really dislike all these labels we all have these days!

Q: does anyone have anxiety symptoms and are on meds?
My dr. has tried 3 different meds and nothing seems to work except for xanax. i have tried zoloft, celexa and effexor and all of these have made me depressed and extremly sleepy. stopped after just a couple of days, couldnt stand feeling like that. I do not have depression, just anxiety and the occasional panic attack.

A: yes, I have tried a few and most of them dont work I have to take lorezepam when I fly but during the day I take paxil its a mood enhancer makes me less anxious.
